I was thrilled to hear that the Goldstein Museum of Design at the University of Minnesota is currently showing an exhibit called from Mao to Now: Chinese Fashion from 1949 to the Present. After spending three weeks in China and carting home a suitcase full of clothing, handbags (not faux ones) and loads of jewelry, I have a full understanding of the incredible creativity that is coming out of the country. This exhibit includes a few pre-Mao fashions, Mao era clothing and most amazing, the post-Mao designs, that allow designers to express themselves. The exhibition includes work from 4 top Chinese designers. I will show you some of my favorites but if you have the chance, go check it out. It is quite fascinating.
Mao era. Expressing oneself through fashion was discouraged.
Post-Mao era: Designs by Wu Haiyan. This one took my breath away, modern with beautiful Chinese influence.
Post Mao era: Designs by Liu Canming- the bags are actually built in to the clothes. Fashion and functionality!

Via Tory Burch Blog. There will 2 available in the Neiman Marcus Christmas book. $4500.
There is nothing I would love more than a Tory Burch Trike to tool around downtown Minneapolis on. I imagine myself and George (my Pekingese) riding around the hood picking up all the pooches for a ride.

Local Designer of the Week: Vintage City Classics
Author: admin // Category: Fashion, Fashion EventsI had the privilege of starting out MNfashion Week at the Vintage City Classics studio on Monday night. Jen, Holly and Joan are the masterminds behind this fabulous jewelry line. They take vintage jewels and reinvent them into modern pieces. We got to take a peek into their creative process and make our own treasures at the studio which was such a treat. If you want to buy a piece of your own, check out local boutiques June and Via’s Vintage. Become a fan on Facebook to be in the know of all the local trunk and fashion shows they are a part of!

If I could put on any outfit today, it would be this one. I love the soft feathers mixed with the hard edge of the black leather jacket, belt and chains. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
